Legatum Ventures has historically invested between USD 2 million and USD 25 million of early stage venture or growth capital as a means to enable talented entrepreneurs to achieve both scale and impact. While we have no 'hurdle rate' per se, we look to achieve outsized financial and social returns by investing our capital in sectors at a point of transition, where aid or government based approaches are being replaced by business-led solutions.
Our deep experience, accrued over two decades of investing in developing economies, and a global network of relationships enables us to add considerable strategic value to our portfolio companies. Legatum Ventures takes an active interest in helping our portfolio companies develop, which often involves us taking a Board seat if there is a positive role for us to play.
